GSU's Tier I Educational Leadership Hub is a virtual handbook of sorts, intended to provide just-in-time, useful information and direction for three important groups:
Students who are currently participating in the M.Ed. in Educational Leadership program and in the Tier I Certificate Add-On only program
Leaders serving as mentors to the students currently in our programs
Potential applicants-- those who are curious about the programs we offer
If the Hub does not answer questions you might have or offer the information you need, please reach out (wrumbaugh@gsu.edu) and we will get you what you need.
The purpose of the Tier I Master’s Degree and Add-on certification programs in Educational Leadership at Georgia State University is to prepare graduates to be effective school and/or system leaders who positively impact student achievement. Throughout the program, students work on meaningful projects in a focused manner that is designed to help them develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions that are required to lead school and district improvement efforts. The program fulfills the requirements of the Tier I Performance-Based Educational Leadership certification for the State of Georgia.
GSU collaborates closely with its partner districts to help assure that students are being properly prepared to successfully address the school and district needs.
Tier I, or entry level preparation, is designed to prepare Educational Leadership candidates for entry leadership positions that include P-12 school level positions below the principal and district level positions that do not supervise principals.
