(Aligned with Mission and Vision)
In support of Monument Academy’s mission to provide a challenging, content-rich academic program within an engaging, caring, and positive learning environment, the school will be intentional and discerning in the selection and acceptance of all library materials. Library material acquisitions, including books and audiobooks, will be guided by a commitment to academic excellence, character development, and exemplary citizenship, rather than by popularity or trends alone.
Consistent with the school’s vision of nurturing well-rounded, flourishing individuals who find joy in life and learning, library materials will be selected to promote strong literacy skills, meaningful engagement, and a love of reading. Priority will be given to literature that reflects rich language, enduring themes, and positive examples of character, while supporting students’ intellectual growth and connection to the broader human experience.
All materials will be evaluated for their alignment with the school’s values of security, character, connection, growth, and excellence, as well as their support of the 2010 Core Knowledge Sequence and other academic goals of the school.
