Classroom Information
Classroom Information
Water - A drinking fountain is available in the classroom. If sending in a water bottle for your child to use, please choose a non-spillable, leak-proof water bottle with a sports lid or straw, no twist off lids. Only water is permitted in our classroom. No juice. (However, other drinks may be packed for lunch in the cafeteria.)
Morning Snack- Please provide a healthy snack daily (no nuts please). Only water bottles are permitted, no juice boxes or other sticky drinks. Please do not send in snacks with messy liquids, such as fruit cups, or snacks that your child can’t open. Some snack ideas include: crackers, pre-cut fruits/vegetables, goldfish, veggie chips, dried fruits, graham crackers, etc.
Food Services- You can download/view the elementary lunch menu on the Montour website. Lunch payments can be submitted by sending funds to school with your child in an envelope labeled with their full name, account number, and "Cafeteria." Account balances can also be managed online through the payment portal linked on the Montour website, though a service fee will apply for using the online service.
Labels- Please label everything that comes to school with your child’s name: backpacks, coats, lunch boxes, snack containers, and supplies. Our lost and found area is always overflowing after the first few weeks of school, and most items are never claimed!
Extra Clothes - Please keep a spare change of clothes at the bottom of your child's backpack for unexpected spills or accidents. Remember to update these items occasionally so they match the current season and your child's growing size!
Rest Time- Please send in a small blanket or towel for your child to use during rest time. These will be sent home twice a month to be washed.
Shoes- Please ensure your child wears comfortable, well-fitting shoes each day. To prevent trips and falls, shoes must remain securely fastened. If your child is still practicing tying laces, please send them in Velcro or slip-on shoes until they can reliably tie them independently.
Skyward- Please set up your Skyward account. Edit any information that is incorrect or missing. Important school information, emails, grades, and report cards are accessed through Skyward. If you need any assistance with set-up and/or login information, contact tech: tech@montourschools.com for help.
Absences- Please submit all excuses through Skyward within 3 days of an absence. The link below explains how to submit an attendance excuse or request

Early Pick-Up- If your child is going to be picked up early, please send in a written note with the time of dismissal even if you have directly entered the request in Skyward.
Dismissal - If your child’s typical dismissal routine needs to change (for instance your child is typically a pick-up, but needs to ride the bus instead), please send in a note and/or email so I can be sure to send your child where he/she needs to go at the end of the day. This applies to a one-time situation as well as any permanent changes in plans. Sometimes children have different dismissal arrangements depending on the day of the week. I need to be made aware of any changes or any schedules that may vary. Communication is key.
Birthday Celebrations- Due to MES policy, food items are NOT permitted for birthdays. Please do not send in cupcakes, cookies, candy, or other edible treats. Non edible items, such as small toys, bubbles, coloring books, Play-Doh, etc. are fine. Party Invitations may only be distributed at school if there is one for every child, every boy, or every girl in the class. Invitations that do not meet this rule will not be handed out.
