Dear Parents:
I am so excited to meet your child and for us to work together! We are going to have a wonderful year!! Please read the information below to help make the start of first grade an easier transition. If you have any concerns, please email me or reach out on Seesaw. :)
What my child needs for First Grade:
* Backpack
* Snack for every day
* Lunch (if packing)
* Water bottle for the classroom (spill proof)
* Daily take home folder (of your choice)- needs returned to and from school daily in your
in your child’s backpack.
* School supplies: on the website
* A good night sleep
* positive attitude and a smile :)
* Afternoon Snack- Please provide a healthy snack or snacks daily. Please do not send in fruit cups or anything that is messy and/or difficult to open. Some snack examples include: dry cereal, pretzels, cereal bars, pre-cut fruits/vegetables, raisins, goldfish, crackers, etc.*To be kept separate from lunch and labeled "snack".
· If you wish to donate individually wrapped snacks for those who might forget, that
would be wonderful! We are making it individually wrapped, due to Covid.
* Water Bottle- Please send in a non-spillable water bottle with a sports lid or straw, no twist off lids. No juice- only water is permitted.
* Shoes- Please wear shoes that fit properly and that DO NOT NEED TIED or come untied easily! Especially with the germs this year, we do not want to keep touching shoes. Shoes need to stay tied at all times for safety precautions. Please be aware of this before dressing your child for school. Thank you! :)
* Labels- Please label everything of your child's with his/her name- coats, backpack water bottle, supplies, etc.
* Birthday Celebrations- If your child would like to send in birthday invitations, please make sure your child has enough for all children OR all boys or all girls. Invitations will not be passed out if there is not enough - we do not want any child to feel left out. Food items are NOT permitted for birthdays (please do not send in cupcakes or cookies). Other non-food "items" can be distributed if you and your child would like. For example: erasers, bracelets, stickers, pencils, mini toys, etc.
* Food Services- From the Montour website, you can download/view the elementary lunch menu. You are also able to add money to your child's account (there is a service fee). You can send in a check made out to the Montour School District to add money to your child's account as well. The check should be in a marked envelope with your child's name.
* Absences- If your child is absent from school, please send in a written note within three days explaining the reason for the absence. You need a written note for each absence.
* Early Pick-Up- If your child is going to be picked up early, please send in a written note with the time and reason. The note will be sent to the office with your child at the time of the pick-up.
* Skyward- Please be sure to be set-up in Skyward so you are receiving important school information and emails. Contact tech - tech@montourschools.com if you need any assistance and/or login information.
