In this activity, we talked with the students about the definition of "attention" and what it means to focus attention on important activities. We shared with the students the four rules of listening: "eyes watching, ears listening, voices quiet, and body still". The students followed in the attached Halloween hidden picture independently with the class. (pdf version below for print).

Lesson 4: Self Talk for Following Directions
We reviewed the rules for listening and how utizing them together means" focusing attention". We practiced the "Learner Song" and talked about the importance of "self talk" in following directions and controling our behaviors. The students participated in the attached activity utilizing their own self talk to repeat and follow the directions.
