MRS. HANN’S KINDERGARTEN SCHEDULE 2020-2021

8:30- 8:45 Arrival

8:45 – 9:15 Homeroom & morning duties- Attendance, unpack, check folder for “mail”, morning work

9:15 - 9:45 Morning Meeting- Calendar routines & calendar activities: calendar math-countdown of days, number of the day, money, place value, tally marks, ten frames, etc. Pledge of Allegiance, monthly poem, song, sight word review, write morning message

9:45 – 10:45 Reading/Language Arts (Journeys)- Letter/sound identification, Heggerty phonemic awareness, word building, shared literature-comprehension focus, vocabulary, grammar, and journal writing

10:45 - 11:15 Snack/ bathroom break/ recess

11:20 - 12:00 Math (Into Math)

12:00 - 12:40 Specials – (see specials schedule/monthly calendar)

2:45 – 1:15 Lunch recess/ bathroom break/ prepare for lunch

1:20 – 2:00 LUNCH- (with lunch supervisors- in the classroom & cafeteria)

2:00 – 2:50 Handwriting/ Science & Social Studies/ Teamology/Rest time/ bathroom break

2:55 - 3:05 Pick-ups/prepare for dismissal/ 3:10 Dismissal

What my child needs for Kindergarten:

Backpack- needs returned to and from school daily with the daily take-home folder inside
Daily take-home folder (ONE of your choice)- needs returned to and from school daily in your child's backpack. Please put any notes for me or the office, nurse, etc. in your child's folder.
Snack- to be kept separate from lunch and labeled "snack"- Please provide a healthy snack or snacks daily. We eat snack in the classroom, so please do not send in fruit cups or anything that is messy and/or difficult to open. Please make sure all utensils, napkins, etc. are packed and your child can eat the items provided independently. Some snack examples include: dry cereal, pretzels, cereal bars, pre-cut fruits/vegetables, raisins, goldfish, crackers, etc. I have extras if needed/someone forgets. Also, our extra snack supply quickly depletes, so any individually wrapped snack donations are always welcome and appreciated! Thank you! :)
Lunchbox (if packing/not buying )- Since we will be eating in the classroom and not in the cafeteria, please make sure all utensils, drinks, napkins, etc. are packed and your child can eat the items provided independently. Boxed lunches will be delivered to our classroom for those students who are buying their lunch for the day.
Water bottle for the classroom- Please send in a non-spillable, non-breakable water bottle (wood laminate floor) with a sports lid or straw, no twist off lids. Please make sure your child is able to open/close it, and fill it independently. No juice- only water is permitted.
Change of clothes- Put in a large Ziploc bag, labeled, and can be kept at school or in backpack- your choice.
School Supplies- Please send your child's school supplies on the first day/week of school. All folders/items on supply list should have your child's name on them. If it is too much, you can spread sending in the items throughout the week if needed, no worries- they are not needed on the first day. I will be putting all your child's supplies in a very large Ziploc bag labeled with your child's name and they will be put in a safe spot in the classroom. We will NOT be sharing any supplies. NOTE: Do not worry if you do not have Clorox wipes to send in and/or couldn't find an item on the supply list. I always have extra supplies and I will let you know if something is needed once I organize the supplies. Also, your child will NOT be using any chemicals to clean as I will be doing the wiping and/or cleaning of items- just an FYI!
Extra supplies- Not on the Kindergarten supply list (completely optional)- antibacterial hand wipes, a small personal hand sanitizer and small pack of tissues (both travel size) to be kept in your child's desk, and extra masks- to be kept in backpack if needed.
Rest blanket/towel for Rest Time- Please send in a small blanket or towel for your child to use during rest time that can fit into a plastic bin. They will be kept at school and then sent home to be washed at the end of the week. This is a calm relax/recharge time. He/she does not have to sleep!
Lanyard/bag tag (will be given the first day of school)- *transportation home*- Important!! Please email me before school starts or send in a note on the first day of school to let me know how your child is getting home from school- bus or parent pick-up. If your child is taking the bus, please let me know the dismissal bus number. Thank you in advance! Please wear this to school on your child for the first week. It will have your child's name and HOME bus number only. Please find your child's bus stop/bus number, and arrival and dismissal times on the Montour website home page. Please go to Departments- Transportation- Bus Schedule- Montour Elementary School listings. Please be patient as the first two weeks might not be the exact times. If a bus is running late at dismissal for a reason, you will be notified.
A good sleep routine- it will be a long day for the first few weeks!

Important information:

Shoes- Please wear shoes that fit properly and that DO NOT NEED TIED or come untied easily! Shoes need to stay tied at all times for safety precautions. Please be aware of this before dressing your child for school.
Bathroom- We will be taking many scheduled bathroom breaks throughout the day. Our bathrooms are located down the hall from our classrooms headed towards the main office and nurse's office. We will learn where it is, and how to eventually get there independently. Please discuss with your child in advance about proper hand washing and also how automatic flushing toilets work. They can be loud and/or scary for children at first.
Labels- Please label everything!! Label with your child's first & last name- coats, backpack, water bottle, supplies, envelopes, forms, money, notes, anything in backpack for me or the class-please label what it is and write me a note. Thank you! :)
Newsletter- A weekly newsletter will be sent home on a Monday explaining all the things that are happening in our classroom. It will provide important information about what we are learning and ideas of what to focus on with your child at home.
Homework- Information will be sent home.
Class Dojo app- This wonderful tool is not only a behavior management system, but it offers a quick and easy way to communicate, as you can send messages directly to me and I can send announcements to all parents. I will be sending home information containing parent account codes so you can create a Class Dojo account online. I will provide this information within the first weeks of school.
Star Student- During the 2nd half of the year, our classroom will begin having a "Star Student." Your child will bring home the directions and a poster when it is his/her turn and will be celebrated throughout this week. All students will have the opportunity to be the "Star Student" so we can get to know your child better!
Birthday Celebrations- If your child would like to send in birthday invitations, please make sure your child has enough for all children OR all boys or all girls. Invitations will not be passed out if there is not enough - we do not want any child to feel left out. Food items are NOT permitted for birthdays (please do not send in cupcakes or cookies). Other non-food "items" can be distributed if you and your child would like. For example: erasers, bracelets, stickers, pencils, mini toys, etc.
Food Services- From the Montour website, you can download/view the elementary lunch menu. You are also able to add money to your child's account (there is a service fee). You can send in a check made out to the Montour School District to add money to your child's account as well. The check should be in a marked envelope with your child's name.
Absences- If your child is absent from school, please send in a written note within three days explaining the reason for the absence. You need a written note for each absence.
Early Pick-Up- If your child is going to be picked up early, please send in a written note with the time and reason. The note will be sent to the office with your child at the time of the pick-up.
Skyward- Please be sure to be set-up in Skyward so you are receiving important school information and emails. Contact tech - tech@montourschools.com if you need any assistance and/or login information.
