During one of our Google Meets, we were talking about Bearded Dragons. So, I would like to introduce you to Felix. Felix is my niece, Emily's, Bearded Dragon. Emily's sister, Lily, is in the background.
Like a dragon, the Bearded Dragon is equipped with an armor of spiny reptilian scales, which include a beard of spikes under its chin which puffs up depending on its mood.
In the wild, their range extends across most of Australia. In the pet trade, they come in a variety of colors not commonly found in the wild. They are cold-blooded and rely on external heat sources to raise their body temperature.
Bearded Dragons are not picky eaters. Felix eats blueberries, lettuce, dandelions, but prefers crickets and a special type of worms called the superworm( which matures into the superworm beetle).
Bearded Dragons communicate with their beards and by changing colors. When threatened, they will open its mouth, raise its chin, and puff out its beard to make itself appear bigger. This display might also be accompanied with a "Hiss". Also, Bearded Dragons will change their color and bob their heads to communicate. A quick bob signals dominance and a slow bob and an arm wave is a sign of submission.
Brumation: A type of hibernation *Some Bearded Dragons stop eating and only drink water sporadically. This can be seen in the Fall and Winter as the light changes and temperatures drop.
