About

The Monterey County Office of Education opted in for a California Complete Count Census 2020 Grant in 2019 and developed a County Office Education Outreach Plan serving both Monterey County and San Benito County schools.

This letter was mailed to all school districts in Monterey and San Benito Counties, along with our "Count Me In!" professional learning opportunity flyer. Then, this letter was mailed to all school sites with the "California Census Communication Toolkit for Schools (K-12)" and the "We Count, We Rise Guide".

We invite your school district to participate by:

Allowing us to post signs at your meal pick-up locations by entering your schools' information at: tinyurl.com/CensusSignsSignUp.

Promoting the 2020 Census on school websites, ParentSquare, robocalls and newsletters, using the California Census Communication Toolkit for Schools (K-12). Resources are available in English, Spanish and 58 other languages, braille, large print and video guides in ASL at: http://2020census.gov/languages.

Encouraging teachers to implement the “Census 2020: Count Me In!” curricular resources/lesson plans.

2020 Census Inquiries for 5th, 8th, 11, and 12th Grades

Designating parent centers or other school locations as Census 2020 Questionnaire Assistance Centers (QACs) and Questionnaire Assistance Kiosks (QAKs).

Adopting a resolution to promote participation in the census, here are examples from:

Announcing at events and meetings, e.g. PTA, ELAC, DELAC, family resource centers, back-to-school nights, lunchtime activities, assemblies, open house and other events where we can have a booth or table and provide presentations promoting participation in and assistance completing the census survey.

Inviting students to participate in the Census 2020 Art and Public Service Announcement (PSA) Contests at www.WeCountWeRise.org. Request additional services by completing this brief survey online or download a hard copy of the survey to submit in person or via mail.
