Chromebooks are assigned with a protective case and charger to students. Any damages or loss of these components must be reported to the school site's librarian and technician immediately.
An agreement is signed by students and parents before a Chromebook is issued and students will accrue fines based on negligence and mishandling of school property.
1st Time unintentional damage to Chromebook - $0 (Forgiven for the first time)
Forgiveness is forfeited if the damage was intentional or the protective case was intentionally removed.
2nd Time (un)intentional and subsequent damage to Chromebook - $35/unit sent for service
Replacing protective case - $20
Replacing Charger - $30
Replacing Chromebook - $300
Payments must be made before a replacement can be issued. In-school loaners can be issued on a case-by-case basis.
These fines go towards Chromebook servicing and purchasing component replacements.
Chromebooks must be charged overnight to ensure it has sufficient battery life for use during the school day.
Students are only to use the Chromebook for educational purposes. All other uses are prohibited without prior permission from teachers or administrators.
Students must report any issues with their Chromebooks promptly to their teacher. If they are unable to troubleshoot and fix the issue, it must be brought to the on-site technician for service. Replacements would be issued by the school librarian.
Students need to remember that the Chromebooks they receive from the School District are not their personal property. These devices are being loaned to them solely for the purpose of education and must be returned in working condition for future students to utilize. Any failure to maintain the device's functionality may result in disciplinary action from the school.
Devices can be confiscated from student or held at school until student reviews and follows proper use of their school-issued device.
