How can I setup my child for success for online learning experience
There is on online training video for ideas on how to setup your child for success. Here are additional ideas:
Schedule your days
Whether you’re working from home or leaving the kids home to do school while you’re at work, trying to manage both your work and your child’s school can be taxing. And dividing your attention between the two without boundaries is sure to lead to mistakes in both.
Manage your expectations
The first thing to remember is that an 8-hour school day has a lot of time spent shuffling between classes, getting 30+ kids to and from the bathroom, standing in line for lunch or other things, and the teacher going over the same thing multiple times to get all students up to speed before starting the assignment or moving on to other work.
Watch for updates from the teacher/school
Online school at home is a little different and teachers and schools might change their instructions and plans to best meet the needs of an entire class rather than just one student. The last thing you want to do is complete an assignment only to find instructions had changed or the teacher decided to skip it after all. So keep an eye on your email, texts, or whatever method the teacher and school uses to contact parents and students.
