Welcome to Honors 10 Unit 2, Lesson 2! In this lesson's objective...

How do we know which is the real world? The Republic is a “Socratic” dialogue in which Plato uses the analogy of being led from the shadows of a cave into bright sunlight to explore how individuals perceive and learn about the world. After reading the Republic, students will consider the elements of ancient and classical literature.

  • Read and take notes on the anchor text pages 27-50 in preparation for Socratic Seminar #2 on Monday- Tuesday, November 2 - 3 (M)

  • Read The Republic as a class to prep for the Close Read: The Republic assignment (M) suggestively due by Tuesday, November 3 on StudySync

  • Context Clues, Textual Evidence, Central/Main Idea lessons on StudySync (S) taught in class on Wednesday- Thursday, October 28-29, due by Wednesday, November 4

  • The 2nd Socratic Seminar will be on Monday- Tuesday, November 2-3 and the focus will be: Use textual evidence to determine how Melchizedek would respond to The Allegory of the Cave from Plato's Republic
