Absences
An unexcused absence is defined as an absence that is not covered by one of the above exceptions. The District policy states that a student may miss no more than 10 days of school in a school year. Unless the absence is excused by a doctor or pre-arranged with the school’s principal, no more than 6 absences will be excused in the 1st semester or 10 absences for the school year. If a student has 4 unexcused absences in one month or 10 total unexcused absences in a year, truancy court proceedings may be initiated. Please understand that no absences will be excused after a student has missed 10 days for any reason unless there is a doctor’s note. Therefore, all absences after a student accumulates 10 will be considered unexcused.
Tardies
Tardies are defined as entering class after the bell. These are recorded by teachers at the start of class and may be excused by other teachers or administrators as situations arise.
