We are looking forward to seeing you all this August! I hope that this information can assist you in your travels. Please provide me information concerning your travel plans and an emergency contact number as soon as you can to Ariel Sykes (organizer). Providing an estimated time of arrival to the Retreat House or Airport / Train Station will allow us to coordinate picking you up from Morristown depending on your travel decisions.
We plan to get started at 5:30 PM on the 11th and recommend that you try to arrive a few hours prior (if possible) so that you can get settled. Someone will be at the retreat house by 11:00 AM to begin welcoming visitors. On the final day of the workshop, we will be done at 12:00 PM and lunch will be served until 1:00 PM. We plan to coordinate carpools to airports and trains as a group the night before the last day to ensure that everyone can get to where they need to go.

The retreat house is about 20 minutes West / NW from Morristown, NJ on State Route 24. If you are flying in to Newark Airport I can recommend two options for getting to Mendham or Morristown
1) Take a taxi directly to the retreat house. This will likely cost around $90 USD from Newark Airport, but could be more. I strongly suggest you verify this with your driver before getting into the taxi as some may charge you more. There are taxis waiting in a staging area outside of the arrival gates.
2) Take the train from Newark Airport to Morristown and a workshop instructor will come and get you from the Morristown Train Station. You can get a detailed schedule on the NJ Transit site. You will be traveling from the Newark Airport Station to Morristown Station. You will most likely transfer trains at Secaucus Station. This should be a rather simple transfer and the conductor on the train from the airport can help you complete it. The cost is $20 USD.
If you plan to arrive at JFK Airport or Laguardia you can catch the train to Morristown at NY Penn Station. A taxi from JFK to Penn runs about $60.00 USD. Again verify the cost before getting into the cab.
3) Uber or Lyft recognize Community of St. John the Baptist, Mendham NJ, as a destination location. Participants have not used these services in previous years but they offer an estimate of $60.00. If you uber, the nearest landmark is Daytop Residential School (that closed in 2020).

This app allows you to text without incurring a per text charge that is often applied when travelling outside of your home service, as long as you are on wifi.
