Students are required to attend all regularly scheduled classes, and attendance will be taken. Per state guidelines, teachers are required to provide daily live instruction in conjunction with small-group, project-based, or independent learning.
When anyone engages online, it's essential that everyone behave appropriately. MUSD students must follow the MUSD District Acceptable Use Policy, that students and adults who are using MUSD devices or platforms must follow.
As a quick reminder, when you're online, be sure to:
Use respectful behavior and language.
Stick to appropriate topic discussions.
Send only appropriate video transmissions.
Use only appropriate icon, emoji, and avatar submissions.
Wear school appropriate clothing if attending meetings via video or creating a video.
Be honest and use academic integrity by not plagiarizing or copying others’ work
Not falsify information about oneself or impersonate others online.
Remember to act kindly, show consideration for others, and treat one another online as they wish to be treated in person.
You can access more information about Digital Citizenship on the Common Sense Media Website.
Make sure to abide to the daily MUSD learning schedule, and remember it is important to identify an at-home learning space. Ideally, this space should have:
Internet access
A computer, iPad, Chromebook, or other device
Good lighting
Ready access to learning materials and tools
A dedicated learning space for virtual learning should ideally be located in a shared area of your home such as at the kitchen table, a large kitchen counter, or a desk in a living room or family room. When your student's learning space is separate from their bedroom and distanced from the television, it sets the expectation and tone that the space is for work and not play. Additionally, an online learning space in a shared area allows parents and guardians to readily support learning while also monitoring online activity.
Getting used to an online learning environment and participating in virtual learning might take a little while. Some people will love it right away. Others might need some time to get used to how to use Google Suite for Education platform and tools. If you're one of the people who isn't as comfortable with technology or online learning as your friends or peers, it's okay. Stay positive. Be persistent. Regularly communicate with your teacher and ask for help.
Your teacher(s) are going to want to know whether you are learning what they intend for you to learn. So you're going to need to appropriately communicate with your teachers and follow their instructions about how to share your learning with them. When you check your Google Classroom messages every day, you will probably find out how your teacher will want you to demonstrate your learning. Be prepared to be asked to:
Complete a Google Quiz;
Turn in a Google assignment (Google docs, Google Slides, Google Forms, Google Sheets);
Take a picture of your work and upload it to Google Classroom;
Record a video that shows how you are able to do something;
Email a message summarizing your learning;
There might be other ways your teacher(s) will want to check on your progress.

The Google Chrome browser v74+ is recommended on all platforms.
All MUSD students have Google Suite for Education accounts that include access to Google Classroom. Students can access Google Classroom through your monroviaschools.net district account. Students should check Google Classroom every day for messages from their teacher(s) about the daily learning expectations. Elementary aged students may need help checking their Google Classroom account for daily lesson and other communication from their teacher(s). Educators will also communicate with students about how to share their learning. Students may be asked to:
Access instructional materials such as screencasts, PDFs, Google Docs, and Google Slides
Open, complete, and turn in a Google Classroom assignment
Open and complete a Google Form survey and/or quiz
Participate in a chat forum
Upload content to Google Classroom (i.e. picture of work, Google Doc, Google Slides)
