Geography affects everyone's life and I believe it to be an integral component of a well rounded education. With today's modern communication technologies the relative size of our world is shrinking very fast and we need to keep pace! As a geographer I believe our society, as a whole, would be better off if we had a deeper understanding of the geographical layout and cultural landscape of our planet. As a geography teacher I believe it is my job to present a curriculum that covers the basics in order to give my students a "launch pad" to a lifetime of exploration of our earth's people, places, and events. Throughout the year our geography class will be traveling around the world looking at the political, physical, and cultural landscape of our earth. Through geography I strive to instill a basic "need" to learn in my students and hope they will realize that "the world" does not revolve around Monroe, MI!
