Formative Assessments: Students complete tasks and answer questions every day in order to determine if they understand what has been taught. They also have weekly spelling tests and quizzes over vocabulary and books we read in the classroom.
CMA's (Content Mastery Assessment): Students take a CMA on their Chromebooks once every nine weeks. The CMA tests cover everything the student has learned in that nine weeks.
NWEA MAP Test: Students take the NWEA Map Test on their Chromebooks three times a year. The MAP Test compares a student's progress to how they scored on the last MAP Test. It's individualized data that I use to guide instruction for each student.
Weekly quiz and test scores along with CMA scores are combined for student's final grades for each content area. Listed below are the scoring criteria used on report cards:
Novice (N): 0-69%
(Little/no understanding of the content)Apprentice (A): 70-79%
(Partial understanding of the content)Proficient (P): 80-89%
(Complete understanding of the content)Distinguished (D): 90-100%
(The student could teach others the content)
