History of Cloud Computing

Started with mainframe computing in the 1950's. Because the mainframe computing procedure requires one employee to maintain a mainframe computer, the need for cloud computing started to emerge. However, the idea of cloud computing started being suggested in 1960. It was a dream for people to access websites and data from any site.

Cloud Computing was:

• an idea of an "intergalactic computer network", introduced in the 1960s by JCR Licklider
• Other people think that the idea of cloud computing was introduced by John McCarthy in the 1960s. He proposed the idea of computation being delivered as a public utility
• fully started functioning in the 1990s
• The newest version is the Web 2.0
• Salesforce.com was developed in 1999
• Amazon Web Services was developed in 2002
• In 2009, Google started to propose for a Google Apps
