Hello! I am Mrs. Bethany Duino.  I am a first-grade teacher here at Barclay Brook School.  I have a Bachelor's degree from The College of New Jersey, formerly Trenton State College, in Elementary Education and Psychology.

As a first-grade teacher, I love to watch the children grow and change.  In general, the transformation that first graders make is unbelievable.  The knowledge that they gain through out the year, within various subjects is amazing.   The growth of the ability to read and write is one of my favorite aspects of first grade; it always surprises me how much the children develop month to month.  It's so much fun in June to look back at the progress each child has made.

I am a big proprietor of assuming responsibility and independence in and out of the classroom.   I believe that children are very capable of being more independent than we may think.   By teaching the children to be responsible for themselves through daily routines, classroom jobs, and expectations of behavior, they become more independent workers in the classroom and less dependent on others.  The children will rely on "I can" instead of "I can't."

Everyday I feel lucky and excited to wake up and come to work.  Your children are the reason for that.  I am looking forward to a successful year with you and your child!  Please feel free to contact me via email or telephone if you have any questions or concerns.
