Welcome to Team Duino! 

Our classroom has a sports theme which makes the classroom fun and motivating.  In addition, I incorporate both American Sign Language and Spanish into daily classroom routines and experiences.

Classroom

There are five "teams" set up in the classroom.  Each "team" has a team captain which changes from week to week.  The "teams" surround our green "field" which we use for stories, mini-lessons, and other whole-group instruction.

Teacher's Desk

In front of my desk, I have bins which organize activities and projects by subjects. 

Morning Routine

As part of our morning routine, the children work both independently and together to discover daily properties of the monthly calendar, keep track of the weather and create a weather graph, track our daily count of school days with a hundred chart, tens and ones (using straws), and match the number for our daily count of school days to money with our Coin Chart.

Reading Table

Our reading table is used for small reading groups, reading and writing conferences, as well as individual student assessments.  Above the reading table is our bulletin board that displays the classroom jobs or as we like to call them "Field Positions."  To the right of the job bulletin board is a "Team Captain" board that lists who the team captains are each week.

Book Nook

Our Book Nook houses books related to the topics we are learning about, month-related stories, class books, various book collections, as well as a leveled library for just-right book selection and reading!

Writer's Den

The Writer's Den is an area in the room where the kids obtain writing supplies.  They utilize this area during Writer's Workshop, centers, and during other class writing/book-making time.

Computers/Math Centers

This computer nook is where laptops are placed during literacy centers.  Math centers and supplies are also in this nook along with a pocket chart that displays math vocabulary for the content learned.

Listening Center

Here the children listen and respond to various literature during literacy center time.
