New project: When starting a new editing project:
Download the Mongabay Video Editing Essentials ZIP file.
Unzip the file and open the Mongabay GFX 2023 Adobe Premiere Pro file.
Once the file is opened, please keep the default settings, sequences and files already existing in the project.
You can find all templates on the “Horizontal videos” and “Vertical videos” sequences.
Editing sequence: Avoid working directly on the preset sequences and create a specific sequence for editing:
Duplicate the “Horizontal videos” and/or “Vertical videos” sequence according to the video format you are planning to edit.
Rename the sequence using three keywords from the video title. (Example: Amazon on fire.)
Delete the graphic files in the duplicate sequence, as they will always be available in the original sequences.
Copy and paste the graphic templates you would like to use only in the editing sequence.
Click on each media template and edit the parameters on the Essential Graphics window.
This logo card can be used both to introduce the video or to close it. It can be used with reverse animation. The opacity of the background can be adapted.
Busy (left), Main Alpha (right)
Main Alpha Watermark: The default watermark for Mongabay horizontal videos is the white logo with transparency located on the top right side of the video. The opacity of the shadow can be adapted on a case-by-case basis to ensure the visibility of the watermark across the video.
Busy Watermark: The default watermark for Mongabay's vertical videos is the logo with black background and green border. This watermark may also be used in horizontal videos when the shading is not sufficient to ensure the visibility of the logo.
Customizable logos are available in both alpha and busy formats, for horizontal and vertical videos, as well as in the central logo card, and will be used by default in content intended for Mongabay's international bureaus. The maximum text length is 20 characters for the customizable section.
Background options are available to adapt the image in case of low resolution (archive 720/480; zoom interview options), format change (cellphone footage), or to give a background to text that is difficult to see on screen (gradient; translucid gray).

Captions are optional for horizontal videos, but their use is always required for vertical videos. When adding captions, they must adhere to the preset Track Styles for horizontal and vertical videos available in the Essential Graphics panel.
Keep about 42 characters per line.
Only use a maximum of 2 lines per subtitle cell.
Captions should closely match words spoken.
Both line and caption breaks should follow the natural rhythm of speech.
When splitting a subtitle up, try to keep the idea intact and the lines of equal length.
Avoid breaking up complete clauses and names, or separating articles from words.
Parentheses are used for conversions. Example: 1 kilo (2.2 pounds).
Brackets are used to clarify interpretations. Example: they [the company] said
