Once you have sourced your own placement and secured an internship position, please follow the process below to submit your application.
Please note, placement periods must align with the relevant teaching period dates. Placements should commence week 1 of the relevant semester. Any placement applications that are more than a week out of semester dates, will require Unit Coordinator approval. If you have any concerns, please speak to the relevant Unit Coordinator before submitting your application via Inplace.
As part of the application questions, you will be asked to nominate a unit you would like to discontinue should you be successful in securing a placement. Please nominate the unit(s) you wish to discontinue or revoke credit. This will assist us in processing your enrolment amendment if you are successful in gaining an internship. Please note, you only need to nominate a unit if you don't have remaining space to do the internship unit. It is not possible to nominate units that you have already completed or for which you are enrolled in for your current Semester post census date. For further details refer to the eligibility section of the internship website.
When asked to nominate your preferred unit to discontinue within your application, this unit can be:
Winter applicants:
- A unit in the Winter semester to be replaced by BME2032
- A unit in Semester 2 if you are in third year and already enrolled in maximum elective credits for your degree
- If you are in 2nd year and still have electives to do in 3rd year you don't need to nominate a unit to discontinue in Semester 2
- The unit you wish to drop cannot be from Semester 1, as the census dates will have passed by the time placements have finalised
- If you have credit brought across from a previous course you can choose to revoke this to make room for BME2032
- You cannot remove a unit that you have already completed within the Biomed degree in previous Semesters
Summer applicants:
- If you have re enrolled for (the next year) you may need to discontinue an elective (that year) to fit BME2032 in Summer
- If you need to discontinue a unit you are enrolled in for summer and want to replace it with BME2032, please nominate that unit
If you are applying for an offshore/international placement please ensure you have requested for a copy of the host student placement agreement.
