Understanding the course structure before you begin your studies is essential, as this will help you with the unit enrolment process. To assist you, we have prepared a summary of your course below:
A6003 Master of Communications & Media Studies (Monash Malaysia) – Course Overview (Entry Level 2)
All A6003 students at Monash Malaysia will be admitted at Entry Level 2 and are required to complete 72 credit points over three semesters. You will automatically receive 24 credit points as exemptions.
➡️For full-time students, you will enrol in three units each semester.:
Semesters 1 & 2: Units from Parts B, D and E
Semester 3: Units from Parts C and E

➡️Meanwhile, part-time students will enrol in either one or two units per semester. Please refer to the course structure shown in the image on the right for more information.
Class schedule: Some units are offered in block mode (A or B, e.g., a six-week delivery for 6-credit-point units).
Additional course-related information
Optional internship: You may take AMG5751 Communications industry internship (Part E) during the Summer B semester (January, before the 3rd semester). This reduces your final semester load to one Part C and one Part E unit.
Optional thesis: Students with 48 points and a distinction average may be invited (via email) to take AMG5743 Communication Research Thesis (24 points) in the final semester, replacing AMG5742 and two other units.
Optional Exchange option: You may join the Monash Global Intercampus Program (GIP) in Semester 3 (final semester, full-time mode only). Please submit your express interest via Ask.Mira near the end of Semester 1.
Note: Implication of enrolling in AMG5009 (Final semester) or APG5485 (Global Intercampus Exchange Program, MUA) in the final semester: The student may lack research experience, which could be a disadvantage when applying for future PhD programs, depending on the type of program and institution.
