Hello,
Welcome to your new home at Peninsula!!
Our Peninsula residents are from all over the world. Our community is centred around celebrating and respecting our diversity, being inclusive and accountable.
Throughout your time at Peninsula, it is our goal to ensure that you feel safe, supported, and connected to our amazing community. We are proud of our community and are excited for you to join us.
The Residential Life Team (RLT) is here to support you so please reach out if you need support. As a team, we're here to help you settle in and foster a vibrant residential life with events and activities.
Peninsula Residential is home to 271 students and is made up of both Residential Village and Gillies Hall. Our mascot is the panther and our colours are blue, purple and white.
Peninsula Residential has a long history of housing and supporting students, beginning as a student hostel in 1960. Since the original building was replaced by the university library in 1994, Peninsula has continued to acquire or build the various housing options available today including, most recently, Gillies Hall.
Gillies Hall is the first student accommodation in Australia to be built to passive house standards. This means that the building is able to maintain a constant temperature all year round without requiring additional heating or cooling.
At Peninsula, we value community, tolerance and respect.
Our hall mascot is the panther and our hall colours are green, blue and white. We wear these colours with pride when we attend events such as College Clash.
Gillies Hall consists of 150 studio apartments situated on campus, and was opened in 2019. It is named after Dr Max Gillies AM (1941) who is an iconic Australian satirist, actor and director. With over 50 years’ experience in the performance industry, he is a Monash alumnus and mentor to actors and performers at Monash. He became a member of the Order of Australia in 1990 for service to the performing arts.
RV residences are spread out across campus and the local area:
11 Samada Street: 12 houses, normally 2 bedroom
3 Holmes Street: One 3-bedroom house
Lardner (65 & 67 Lardner Road): 2 houses with 9 residents
1 Bloom Street: 12 houses, 4 bedroom
