Middle School Band and Orchestra is a continuation of the Moline Instrumental experience which begins in 5th Grade. For more information on our Elementary Bands, please contact Mr. Carter (mcarter@molineschools.org).

Our performance ensemble classes are curricular; classes take place during the day and students receive a grade for their efforts and participation.  Students will build on the foundation that they have established in Fifth Grade and begin to rehearse music that will allow them to grow as an ensemble. Balance, blend, intonation, and style are important aspects of development in the Sixth Grade year.

All Seventh and Eighth Grade Band and Orchestra members will combine to create a larger ensemble which performs together. Before each evening concert, our classes are able to combine for a rehearsal during the school day.

We present three evening concerts each year, with additional performances for the Marching Band. In addition, there are opportunities for students to participate in worthwhile field trips and audition for enrichment ensembles such as the Spartan Jazz Band, Spartan Chamber Orchestra, Honor Music Festivals, and the Quad City Symphony Youth Ensembles.
