VOLUNTEER EXPECTATIONS AND GUIDELINES
Volunteers are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times when involved in MoKan Greyhound Adoption activities and/or wearing MoKan Greyhound Adoption attire.
When at public events, volunteers should dress neatly and appropriately. It is generally advised that you wear comfortable shoes.
Volunteers are expected to perform the tasks under the guidelines established within the job description for the project they have committed to.
Volunteers are expected to support and adhere to the policies and procedures of MoKan Greyhound Adoption as outlined in this volunteer manual.
If approached by a member of the media, you may provide a copy of the adoption information packet however, you should refer them to a board member to answer their questions.
Please do not initiate projects or reach out (in person, via phone or e-mail) to vendors, donors, venues, etc. as a representative of MoKan Greyhound Adoption without consulting a board member first. You may be duplicating efforts or creating confusion with an existing relationship. If you know of a venue that might work for adoption events or if you find a vendor you would like to see the group work with, please pass along the contact information and, if appropriate, a board member will contact them.
Never reach out to a MoKan Greyhound Adoption business contact as a MoKan Greyhound Adoption representative or in reference to any MoKan Greyhound Adoption business without consulting a board member first.
Please do not use the MoKan Greyhound Adoption logo without permission.
All documents and projects created or maintained by volunteers on behalf of MoKan Greyhound Adoption shall remain the proprietary property of MoKan Greyhound Adoption. They are not to be copied or transmitted to any other parties by any method, including but not limited to, physical exchange or e-mail transmission, without the prior consent of the board.
Volunteers should understand that they are providing their services in a volunteer capacity without any expressed or implied promise of salary or employment benefits.
Using or being under the influence of alcohol or drugs is prohibited while volunteering with MoKan Greyhound Adoption or any sponsored special event unless alcohol is specifically approved for that event.
Volunteers should report for scheduled duties on time. If you know in advance that you will be absent or late, notify a board member as soon as possible. If you wish to make changes in your scheduled volunteer time make the changes at www.whentohelp.com or with a board member as soon as possible.
The policies & procedures that are in place serve as guidelines for appropriate behavior. If a volunteer commits a violation of the rules, disciplinary procedures will be followed.
While it doesn’t happen often, we have experienced violations of the policies and procedures that have been detrimental to the program. Volunteers who commit minor violations of policies and procedures will be verbally counseled in an effort to achieve acceptable compliance. Continued violations could result in additional counseling or dismissal.
Volunteers may be expelled upon a determination that the member has engaged in conduct materially and seriously prejudicial to the interests and business of the program or has conducted him/herself in a manner which would jeopardize the organization’s reputation.
