The 1st Ever Regional GOWA program Event in Trongsa
A 23 year old, Lham Dhendup was of the view that he was well advocated in terms of the employment support and other related services provide by the RoICE. He further explained, “I understood the consequences and risk of overseas employment through various fake agents”. Moreover, he underlines the need of the program in the near future so that it will benefit the youths, dropouts and jobseekers in a multi-dimensional way.
“I was very excited about the GOWA program, I have heard regarding the program from my friends. When I saw the post on the Facebook and saw various flyers been displayed on the walls of the shops in the town. I felt that I must attend the program at any cost. I am with the assertive view that I have not mistaken after attending the program as I am well advocated on the various services. The interesting part of the program was on the spot recruitment, which I felt that will help the jobseekers to get the job instantly”. Exclaimed a 26 year old Pema Dechen hailing from Trongsa, Bjepam.
“I believe this platform is the ideal platform for employers to recruit capable candidates and job seekers to match their skills and interests with the announced vacancies, it also provide multi ground opportunities for the organization despite their small organizational structure ” underlined by the assistant manager, Norbulingka resort. He further added that if the ministry could look upon the age factor and get rid of it, it will help the employers in the multidimensional ways as the most of the employee turning up for the work in the hospitality sectors are above the age requirement set up by the ministry.
The program was graced by Dasho Dzongrab of Trongsa Dzongkhag as a chief guest. Dasho stressed the significance of actively participating in the GOWA event. Furthermore, Dasho also underlined to take up the golden opportunity when it is at our doorstep, moreover to get ourselves well advocated in the field of employment and labour acts. Dasho also stress on his attachment with the ministry and briefed the participants well on the various services provided by the ministry.
On the other hand, Dzongkhag Tshogdu Thrizin was of the view that, with the coordination of such kind of program, it will help everyone, were the regional office takes the opportunity to advocate business entities, jobseekers, local leaders and youths. Thrizin also state out his interest in lending support regarding similar kind of program at the gewog level with the local officials and Gups.
The event mainly focused on employment services and programs facilitated by the ROICE, Trongsa and ministry as a whole. Overseas employment issues and risks associated with it were conveyed to the participants, as well as the advantages of registering in the BLMIS system, Labour Act, Basic Rights of Employee and trade rules and regulations. Job seekers and employers were also well advocated about how to register online in the Bhutan Labour Market Information Service (BLMIS) system.
The event was attended by 130 participants, including employers, jobseekers, dropouts, youth, and official guests. 7 candidates were selected on-the-spot, out of 7, 4 of them were selected as intern, and ten shortlisted by four potential employers participated in on-the-spot recruitment at Sherubling higher secondary school Hall, Trongsa Dzongkhag on January 15th, 2025.
In the near future, the ROICE, Trongsa will replicate the same event with unique ideas in various parts of other Dzongkhags.
