Avoid at least one (1) week before urine collection as following:
Food
Chillies, Eggplant, Fruit juices, Nuts, Tomato, Pineapple Caffeine (Coffee, Tea etc.), Avocado, Watermelon, Chocolate/Cocao, Kiwi, Banana

3. Avoid stress and vigorous exercise.
Label 24 hours urine container with two identifier (Name and identity no - NRIC/MRN)
Day 1:
Instruct the patient to void first urine in the morning and discard the urine. Collect all urine in a 24 hours container for next 24 hours. Mix the urine with the preservative well in the 24 hours container every time urine voided. Record date & time collection started.
Advice patient do not pass the urine directly into the container due to acid splash risk issue. Keep sample in a cool & dry place during the collection period.
Day 2:
Include the final urine voided into 24 hours urine container. Record date & time completed.

Procedure:
Mix 24 hours urine with preservative well
Measure total volume and pH of the specimen and note on PER-PAT 301 form. Lab personnel are responsible to adjust the pH of the specimen.
Transfer 10ml (minimum 3.5ml) aliquot into a plain tube. Please seal the tube with parafilm to avoid leaking.
Store specimen under 2 – 8oC (stability up to one month) OR freeze under -20oC (stability up to three months).
