MODULE Description

This module is designed to provide participants with an introduction to different coping skills to manage their emotions during challenging times.

Mrs. Christa J. Courtenay

With a Master’s Degree in Mental Health and Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of South Florida, Christa J. Courtenay, Professional Counselor specializes in the areas that cover a broad spectrum of life including but not limited to the following for all ages:

Depression/ Stress Management/ Sexual abuse recovery/ Parenting challenges/ Life skills/ Anxiety/ Relationship & Marital conflict/ Major life transitions/ Communication/ Grief counseling.

She has counseled with individuals, couples, families and groups in psychotherapy for more than 10 years. Present and former clients have described her style as genuine, direct and disarming. Her authentic style is the foundation of her clinical approach, which is anchored in client- centered therapy.

Christa currently sits on two boards, she is the Vice- President for the Mental Health Association, and is a founding member of the board of Mind Health Connect, a newly formed NGO aimed at providing information to persons seeking Mental health & Wellness Resources, and Reducing stigma surrounding mental illness.

Further assisting her exceptional client connection is Christa’s global perspective and experience with diverse cultures, covering a broad range of life circumstances. Her work in diverse settings both in the United States and Belize has contributed to her well- honed ability to meet each audience “where they are.” Witnessing and celebrating each client’s achievement is what she loves.

Learning Outcomes and objectives

Participants will be provided with strategies and coping mechanisms to improve emotional well-being during this time of crisis.

Participants’ successful completion of this module is based on their participation in all required activities. This may include, but is not limited to, follow-up questions, discussions and activities throughout the module.
