The Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports and Culture is honoured to offer Professional Development opportunities for our teachers and school leaders during the COVID-19 Pandemic. We have prioritized two key areas: psycho-social support and transitioning to online learning.

As educators seek to find a life-work balance during this unprecedented time, new worries are navigated. How can you stay strong and healthy? The first course, Thriving in Uncertain Times, focuses on providing coping skills to support mental, emotional, physical, financial and spiritual well-being. Our goal is for you to explore strategies to stay grounded and improve your overall well-being as you chart through these uncertain times.

Many teachers across Belize are continuing to teach and support students. The second course, Digital Learning, focuses on building capacity in digital literacy. You will learn to identify tools, equipment and the appropriate platforms needed to promote effective and efficient online teaching and learning. We hope it will build the capacity of our teachers and school leaders to deliver distance learning.

We invite you to participate in both of these courses which have been organized by the Ministry of Education in partnership with California Baptist University Professors, Dr. Kendra Flores-Carter and Dr. Carla Thornton and a talented cadre of local Belizean facilitators including Jeremy Enriquez, Christa J. Courtenay, Karen Rosito, Sean Kuylen, Fr. Christopher Bryan, Leon Gentle, Louis Underwood and Hector Castellanos.

Both courses are completely free of charge.
