Yayoi Kusama (Born 1929, aged 93) is a Japanese artist famous for her use of dots in her painting, sculptures, performances and art installations. She was often called the 'Princess of Polka Dots'.

Kusama started painting when she was a young child, and back then started to experience hallucinations! She was overwhelmed by the dots, and felt like she was 'disappearing' or 'self-obliterating' into the field of dots.

Her artworks often have many dots and marks, and she feels that when she draws these, she feels that she is melting and becoming part of the bigger universe.
