If you have ever passed through Newton MRT’s Downtown Line platform, you may have noticed the sprawling, 11.4m-tall black-and-white mural located right by the escalators that take commuters up and down from the platform.
Or perhaps not. After all, MRT stations are the epitome of liminal spaces. They are never a destination in and of themselves, but a transient space where people pass through, often with haste.
But artworks such as the mural titled Newton – created by local visual artist Tan Zi Xi – have become an integral part of the fabric of Singapore’s MRT network.

📍National Museum of Singapore, The Canyon, Basement Level
Travel through time in this installation! Role-play as early migrants and trace their journeys to their landing point at the Singapore River on an interactive map. Then, write or draw on a postcard to honour and show your appreciation to our migrant workers today.

Silver helium balloons in the shape of fish drift in the air, fitted with sensors and a tail to “swim” through the room while avoiding visitors and other fish.
The art installation mimicking the schooling behaviour of fish is one of the highlights of ArtScience Museum’s latest exhibition, Into The Ocean: Journey Beneath.
Presented by the museum in collaboration with OceanX, an ocean exploration non-profit organisation, the immersive exhibition will be launched on June 6, allowing visitors to explore the different zones of the ocean, reaching depths where few humans have ventured.
For Singapore residents, tickets cost $19.50 (adults) and $16.50 (concession). For others, tickets cost $22 (adults) and $18 (concession). They can be purchased online or at Marina Bay Sands box offices.

Zhangde's annual Aesthetics Week is back!
For one vibrant week, creativity came alive across Zhangde. From energetic recess jam sessions with mic singalongs to inspiring student art and music showcases, every moment celebrated the talents and passions of our students.
We were also delighted to welcome special guests Dr Woo (@wooyenyen, @dimsumwarriors) and Uncle David (@david_liew_art), who inspired our students through an engaging comic storytelling session that sparked imagination and creativity.
