Dear Students, here are some resources you can access in SLS / via the websites to support your learning.
For students to pursue their own interests and learn outside of the curriculum:
Gardening with edibles
Website: https://www.nparks.gov.sg/gardening/gardening-with-edibles
Students can participate in NParks’ ‘gardening with edibles’ initiative to grow their own edibles at home. This Gardening with Edibles initiative is aligned with Singapore’s national strategy to strengthen our food resilience. Students will pick up care tips or planting techniques through attending or watching past online masterclasses conducted by NParks horticulturists. Students can then share stories of their fruits of labour on social media using #NParksBuzz and #GardeningwithEdiblesSG!
Google Earth
Website: https://earth.google.com/web/
Explore the world on Google Earth: Students can join Jane Goodall as she takes them through a journey to Tanzania’s Gombe National Park. Students will be able to observe some of the chimpanzees she has observed over the years. Extreme Biodiversity on the high seas: Students can join Mission Blue on a high seas adventure to the Costa Rica Thermal Dome Hope Spot where they follow marine biologists in the field tagging turtles, tracking sharks and more. Walk in Darwin’s footsteps by trekking across the Galapagos
Kitchen Science - DNA Extraction from Fruits
Students will join a biologist for a 30-minute lesson to learn how to extract DNA from plant cells and have the opportunity to see DNA without a microscope!
