22 May 2025 | Update of DMA Lightspeed Systems® Extension for Chromebook Personal Learning Devices (PLDs)
Dear Parent/Guardian,
There is an important update of DMA Lightspeed Systems® Extension for Chromebook (PLDs).
What is this about?
Google has shifted to Manifest V3 for Chrome browser extensions and will be phasing out the current Manifest V2 from Jun 2025. The existing DMA Lightspeed Systems® extension (based on Manifest v2) for Chromebook PLDs must be updated to maintain compatibility and security compliance.
The new Lightspeed Systems® extension (compatible with Manifest V3) will be remotely deployed to all Chromebook PLDs from 26 May 2025.
With the deployment of the new Lightspeed Systems® extension, we will be seeking your support to remind your child/ward to keep their PLD powered on and connected to the Internet for at least 30 minutes from 26 May 2025 to receive the automatic deployment of the new Lightspeed Systems® extension.
Should you require further clarification, please contact ICT Helpdesk
Thank you for your continued support.
12 Febuary 2025 | Uninstalling of DMA from PLD for Sec 4 NA and Express graduating students (2024)
Dear Parents/Guardians,
All graduating students’ Personal Learning Devices (PLDs) will be de-enrolled from the DMA. During this process the DMA software will be uninstalled and de-enrolled from the MOE-managed DMA system.
For Sec 4NA / Express graduating students last year no uninstallation and de-enrollment of DMA will take place since their PLDs are not onboarded to new MOE DMA after the removal of Mobile Guardian (MG) Device Management Application (DMA) from their PLDs.
Should you require further assistance, please contact ICT Helpdesk
Thank you for your continued support.

20 October 2024 | Deployment of New MOE Device Management Application (DMA) for Personal Learning Devices (PLDs)
Dear Parents/Guardians,
MOE’s new DMA for Chromebook PLDs, Lightspeed Systems®
As part of the Personal Learning Device (PLD) initiative, all PLDs must be installed with the MOE Device Management Application (DMA) before they can be used in school. This notification is to update you on MOE’s new DMA for Chromebook PLDs, Lightspeed Systems®.
For parents/guardians previously on Default or Option A After-School DMA Parent Options, the new MOE DMA will be deployed remotely to your child’s/ward’s PLD. Your child/ward will need to ensure that his/her PLD is switched on and connected to the internet for at least 30 minutes. The icon for the new DMA application will appear on your child’s/ward’s PLD once it has been successfully deployed. Once deployed, the MOE DMA default settings will be in place. During the school holidays, the default sleep hours of 11pm to 6.30am will be activated.
For parents/guardians previously on Option B After-School DMA Parent Option, the new MOE DMA will not be deployed during the school holidays. This is consistent with previous practice where the PLDs of students on Option B were not managed by the MOE DMA during the school holidays. The new MOE DMA will be deployed to these students’ PLDs on January 2025.
Please refer to the attachments for more information on the new MOE DMA and a guide to support you in managing your child’s/ward’s device use.
With the deployment of the new MOE DMA, we will be seeking parents’/guardians’ support to indicate your choice of After-School DMA Parent Option for the new MOE DMA. More information on the After-School DMA Parent Options as well as instructions to indicate your options will be provided by mid-November via Parents Gateway. We seek your understanding that changes to your preferred After School DMA Parent Option will only take effect in January 2025.
Should you have any questions, please contact MOE_PDLP@moe.gov.sg for assistance.
Thank you for your continued support.
11 September 2024 | Update on Digital Learning Routine and Device Management
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Introducing Our New Classroom Digital Learning Routine (DLR)
We are excited to announce the launch of our new Classroom Digital Learning Routine (DLR) which took place on August 20. This updated DLR aims to promote responsible use of Personal Learning Devices (PLDs) during and after school hours, while also equipping students with essential cyber wellness skills in today's complex digital landscape.
In preparation for the new DLR and as a follow-up to the recent Mobile Guardian DMA incident, our morning assembly talks on August 12 and 14 focused on student well-being. Mr. Philip, our HOD (SM), reinforced our school policies on PLD usage, while Mdm Priscilla Yu from the Student Well-being Committee shared valuable insights on the impact of excessive screen time on mental and physical health. Students were encouraged to strike a balance between device use, exam preparation, and physical activities. Additionally, teachers were reminded to remain vigilant and monitor PLD use during their lessons.
Device Management
The Ministry of Education (MOE) has implemented measures to support device management through the Google Admin Console (GAC). These controls include:
• Blocking of undesirable websites (up to 1000 URLs)
• Disabling of app and extension downloads by students
MOE has announced on 10 September that an alternative Device Management Application (DMA) solution for Chromebook PLDs is scheduled for rollout in January 2025. We will share more information as it becomes available.
Should you require further clarification or assistance, please write to our HOD ICT, Mdm Sherry Liew, at liew_geok_may_sherry@moe.edu.sg.
8 August 2024 | Unable to set up parental controls in Google Family Link App
Dear Parents/Guardians,
This announcement is a follow up on the earlier announcement on 6 August regarding "Removal of Mobile Guardian (MG) Device Management Application (DMA) from Chromebook Personal Learning Devices (PLDs)".
We note that some parents have started to download Google Family Link to set up parental controls but were unsuccessful.
Please note:
1) Google Family Link app cannot be downloaded on your child's/ward's PLD. It should be downloaded onto your own Android or iOS phones.
2) Next, we have found another issue.
The information in our earlier letter states that Family Link parental controls will not apply if the student is signed into their iCON account on their PLD. Some of you may have experienced that when you are creating an account inside Family Link app, you need to provide the email address (used by the device you want to set parental controls) and the app does not accept your child’s/ward’s Student iCON email address.
This has created a new problem because currently all the students’ PLDs are logged in using Student iCON email addresses and do not allow you to add any other email addresses.
Hence, this means that you will not be able to use Family Link app until we find a solution.
We understand that some of you may be anxious about your child’s/ward’s screen time and access to inappropriate websites. Rest assure we have highlighted this issue to MOE and will update you as soon as we have more information. We urge you to have a meaningful conversation with your child/ward about safe and responsible use of his/her digital device. You can refer to the attached Parent Kit.
Meanwhile, we will be addressing the students next week to reinforce our students’ digital learning routines from both the student management and student well-being perspective.
Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.
Have a restful long weekend.
6 August 2024 | DMA will be removed from all PLDs as a precautionary measure
Dear Parents/Guardians,
MOE was informed of a global cybersecurity incident involving unauthorised access to MG’s platform that affected their customers globally, including those in Singapore. As a precautionary measure, MOE will remove the MG DMA from all Chromebook PLDs. Please refer to MOE’s press release (see link below).
We understand that this matter may cause your child/ward to feel concerned and anxious. The school is committed to providing the necessary support for your child/ward during this period and we are working with MOE to safely restore the devices to normal usage. We also appreciate your support in providing reassurance to your child/ward. You may refer to the Cyber Wellness Guide and other useful MOE resources on how you can guide your child/ward.
For the time being, we encourage you to use the currently available parental controls developed for Chromebook to ensure your child/ward is using the device safely and responsibly. MOE will explore alternative DMA solutions. Please refer to the Guide on parental controls for Chromebook (https://go.gov.sg/chromebookguide) for more details. The school would also ensure safe and responsible use of the device by students during school hours.
Should you require further clarification or assistance, please write to our HOD ICT, Mdm Sherry Liew, at liew_geok_may_sherry@moe.edu.sg.
Thank you for your partnership and understanding along this journey.
