I can Soar Leadership Niche Programme aims to nurture pupils to have a strong moral compass, equipping them with leadership skills and 21st Century Competencies. Anchoring on the principles of the Students’ Leadership Challenge model, the three broad outcomes we seek to achieve are as follows:
Every student at WRPS will go through our weekly booster lessons where we ensure a progressive acquiring of values, skill sets and competencies. The lessons are modular in nature and cover four key areas – life skills, leadership, language arts and ICT skills. From learning about teamwork to emotional management, these modules provide students the breadth of experience beyond the curriculum.
We encourage our pupils to be active contributors to the community through our Values-in-Action (VIA) projects. Through volunteering at old folks’ homes and sharing knowledge within the community, these learning experiences develop pupils as socially responsible citizens who contribute meaningfully to the community. Uniquely at WRPS, we mandate a strong emphasis on teachers’ active participation with our pupils in the VIA projects, role-modelling values through collaborative action.
All WRPS pupils will have opportunities to take on leadership roles and participate in student-initiated platforms such as Learning Carnival to apply their leadership learning. To nurture aspiring leaders, students can take on greater responsibilities through leadership roles such as Prefects or CCA Leaders. Tiered leadership training and camps are organized to stretch our pupils’ leadership potential. Teacher-facilitated platforms such as organizing Charity Bazaar and Teachers’ Day Programme, allow students to experience leadership-in-action, working together to transform their ideas into reality.
