Our key priorities in our curricular design are engaging our learners, stretching their potential and supporting their learning.
“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I remember, involve me and I learn.”
Classroom engagement is key in helping pupils learn. Having hands-on with manipulatives and collaborative learning strategies, pupils are involved during lessons and play an active role in their learning. With the infusion of ICT in lessons, pupils are able to learn interactively, promoting self-directed learning beyond the classroom.
To realise our students’ potential, stretch and support structures are put in place to help them be the best they can be. Enrichment programmes such as Code for Fun, Math Olympiad training and Math E2K training aim to stretch our pupils beyond the academic curriculum. Dedicated rooms are allocated for Learning Support Programmes (LSP), allowing pupils to learn at a suitable pace and in a smaller class setting. A dedicated pool of Counsellors and Allied Educators are also ready to assist the pupils in their learning and socioemotional needs as students’ wellbeing remains our utmost priority.
We see the importance of being a confident speaker and having a love for reading. The Language Arts modules conducted during the weekly booster periods build confidence in public speaking through activities such as debating or newscasting. The Hooked on Reading Programme fosters a vibrant school-wide reading culture. Pupils set their reading goals and reflect on the books they have read through reading extension activities. The library will also be an interactive hub, promoting joyful reading through storytelling sessions, thematic book displays and recess activities.
