Full Subject-Based Banding (Full SBB) is part of MOE's ongoing efforts to nurture the joy of learning and develop multiple pathways to cater to the different strengths and interests of our students.
With Full SBB, students will be learning each subject at the level that best caters to their overall strengths, interests and learning needs. This means that, your child can work towards a high a subject level as possible for each subject in secondary school. The set of subject levels at G1, G2 and G3 based on their PSLE results does not limit their secondary school experience.
Eligible students can offer English Language, Mother Tongue Languages, Mathematics and Science at a More Demanding Level (MDL) based on their PSLE Achievement Level (AL) for each of these subjects.
Is my child/ward eligible to take a subject at a more demanding level (MDL)?
Yes, if your child/ward is posted to PG1 or PG2, and
has scored AL 5 or better in the PSLE subject(s), your child/ward will be eligible to study the subject(s) at G3 level, AND/OR
has scored AL 6 or AL A in the PSLE subject(s), your child/ward will be eligible to student the subject at G2 level.
If your child/ward is eligible to take a subject(s) at MDL, you will receive a form for each subject on Parents Gateway to indicate if you would like to accept or reject the offer on 19 December 2025.
Please indicate if you would like to accept or reject the offer by 24 December 2025.
After doing so, you can purchase the books according to the subject levels that your child/ward have opted for.
Below is a summary for the information :
Please refer to MOE’s website for further information on Full SBB.
