TIP #1: Create Physical Space
Discuss and decide on the various areas at home for learning, working, resting and bonding together. For instance, your child could do her HBL at the dining table while you work in the living room.
Set up your respective areas as a family.
TIP #2: Create Digital Space
If you have more than one child at home, sharing devices can be tricky.
Work out a schedule with your children so they can take turns using the device/s.
Not all HBL homework needs to be done digitally. Some of it may require just pen & paper.
TIP #3: Create Rules & Routines
Set ground rules with your child/ward.
For instance:
Exercise responsibility (e.g. follow your study plan, complete homework before TV time)
Be respectful (e.g. don't interrupt when someone else is on a call)
Set boundaries (e.g. what does your child need to seek permission on)
2. Share a family schedule.
If you are working from home too, sharing your schedule with your child and vice versa will give you both space to do your work, and allow you to plan for time together as well.
3. Encourage independence
Encourage your child/ward to be self-reliant when it comes to her assignments and work.
Direct her to ask her teachers for help, rather than to rely on you to troubleshoot issues she has during the learning process.
Allow her space to keep track of her own work & take responsibility for it.
TIP #4: Create learning opportunities
The home environment can be a great classroom as well. Encourage your child to help around the house, to look after herself and her environment.
