LEADERSHIP PRACTICE - ENABLE OTHERS TO ACT
•Foster collaboration by building trust and facilitate relationships.
•Empower others by increasing self-determination and developing competence.
Activity - Broken Squares
•Step 1: Split up into groups of 4 and sit with your team members.
•Step 2: Only 1 member can form the square based on the instructions given by the 3
members. No pointing or passing of puzzle pieces is allowed by the 3 members.
Participants can only describe the shape and how to position the puzzle pieces to the
one forming the square.
•Step 3: The group goal is to form a complete square using the puzzle pieces.
Observations
•Was there effective communication? Were the instructions clear to the one forming
the square?
•Did you detect evidence of frustration? How did it affect the group?
•What was the critical turning point(s) affecting the group working together?
How do we build trust and facilitate relationships?
●Do your part well

●Talk it out! Settle your differences. Communicate
●Be kind, be respectful and genuine
●Be considerate and always think about others first.
Class discussion
