Authentic Learning Through An Interdisciplinary Programme
Getting Down to EARTH (Environmental Assessment & Relevance Towards Humankind) or EARTH program is a collaborative effort between Science Department, Applied Learning Program Committee and Geography Unit. This interdisciplinary program provides our Secondary One students with the opportunity to apply what they have learnt in authentic context, drawing connection between the data gathered and impact of human activities.
Malay Language - Individual Presentation on Current Affairs
Peer Assessment to provide Next Step Feedback
In this lesson, the 3 students were tasked to pick one news article from Berita Harian to be shared in class. The news article has to be something they are really interested in as they have to make logical linkages to why the issues affect their lives as teenage students in Singapore.
This individual presentation served as practice for one component of their assessments and after each presentation, students received feedback in real time from their peers as well as teacher so that they can make improvements.
Chinese Language - Using of Nearpod as a platform to Engage Students in Discussions and Self-Assessment
Harnessing Digital Technologies to Engage Learners
The clip shows how our teacher leveraging on digital technologies to accelerate and deepen learning by making lessons more engaging for the students.
The teacher began by using the app, Nearpod, as a tool for students to assess how well they have learnt the vocabulary in the previous chapter through the “Time To Climb” game function. The teacher first modelled the method of writing 《排比句》（parallel sentences）and students are tasked to discuss and apply what they have learnt to come up with their own parallel sentence. Feedback form their peers and teachers were provided during the evaluation.
