Teaching and Learning Physics Online: A Different Type of Closeness and Suggestions to Capitalize it
Dr Ho joined Nanyang Technological University in 2011 as a Physics lecturer. He started his teaching career in 1998 at Hwa Chong Junior College. Dr Ho then pursued his graduate studies in Physics at University of Toronto from 2004 to 2009. Subsequently, he did his postdoctoral research at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Center for Quantum Technologies in NUS from 2009 to 2011.
Dr Ho is passionate about education and has helped spearhead a few initiatives in the last few years in NTU. He has taught the Engineering Physics course since he joined and has been continually refining it. Dr Ho also helped set up the Making and Tinkering course in 2014. He has been given a few teaching awards, including the Nanyang Education Award (University, Gold) in 2018. Currently, he is serving as the Associate Dean (Academic) for College of Science and is also heading the newly set up Institute of Pedagogical Innovation, Research and Excellence (InsPIRE) in NTU.
