Do you remember the song, "Count on me, Singapore" (1986)?
This is the chorus:
Count on me Singapore,
Count on me Singapore
Count on me to give my best and more,
count on me Singapore
Fun fact: Mr Clement Chow is the singer of the original 1986 version of this song. He is 61 this year.
CHALLENGE:
We are going to create a rhythm for the chorus, and play it as we sing!
Step 3:
(Recall: 1 beat note - ta,
2 half beat notes - ti-ti
1 beat rest - Z
Each box represents 1 beat.)
Click "Play" on the online metronome (it will be your steady beat). Say out the rhythm while listening to the metronome.
- E.g. "ta, ta, ti-ti, ta"
Repeat till you are comfortable with it.
If you are using rests, put your finger on your lips instead of saying out loud.
***
Step 4: Now, clap the rhythm instead of saying it, while listening to the metronome. You may choose to make a different sound for "ta" and "ti-ti".
(E.g. stomping your foot, snapping your fingers, tapping on shoulders etc.)
***
Step 5: Now, try singing the chorus and perform the rhythm at the same time. Repeat the rhythm throughout the chorus while keeping the beat.
Count on me Singapore,
Count on me Singapore
Count on me to give my best and more,
count on me Singapore
How well could you do it? Was it difficult for you?
