The National Digital Literacy Programme (NDLP) was launched in March 2020 to make digital learning inclusive by equipping students with digital literacies to be future-ready.
As part of NDLP, MOE announced in 2020 that every secondary school student will own a school-prescribed personal learning device (PLD) by end-2021, as part of the Personalised Digital Literacy Programme (PDLP).
The aims of NDLP are to:
Support the Development of Digital Literacies
Support self-directed and collaborative learning
Enhance Teaching and Learning
They will use their PLDs to access platforms such as the Student Learning Space (SLS), Google Workspace, Classkick, Slido, Mentimeter, Kahoot, Nearpod, Padlet, for both in-school and out-of-school learning.
To support their learning experiences
To review their learning and close learning gaps
To collaborate with their peers and teachers
To continue to learn during home-based learning (HBL)
To explore topics of their personal interests and preferences
To learn and make use of digital tools such as calendaring and note-taking applications to enhance personal productivity and develop life skills
Students will be provided a suite of digital applications provisioned by MOE.
Similar to primary school, every secondary school student will be given a Google Workspace iCON account that provides access to email and Google productivity tools.
Every secondary school student will be able to access and use Microsoft Office tools that include Word, PowerPoint and Excel on their PLD.
Every secondary school student will be given a Zoom free account [with a 40 mins time limit] using the Student iCON for the students’ video conferencing needs.
Kindly note that the school will be sending PDLP information out to you via the Parent Gateway (PG) by 21 Dec 2023. This includes a letter that explains more about the programme, especially the personal learning device (PLD) the school is prescribing, including funding information, device management etc.
We seek your assistance to complete the FormSG (https://go.gov.sg/pdlpadmin) to provide your consent to the purchase of the PLD as soon as possible (by 5 Jan 2024). This will help us to facilitate the purchase as early as possible to aid in your child’s learning. If you have any query, please feel free to contact the school to talk to any member of the ICT department.
