“Sustainability” is a timely and necessary inclusion in the study of secondary Geography. Consider global accords such as the Paris Agreement and United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Paris Agreement aims to strengthen the global response to the threat of climate change and countries’ ability to deal with the impact of climate change. Hence, enhancing environmental sustainability by limiting global temperature increases is an international imperative. In the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, 17 Sustainable Development Goals are identified to tackle poverty, social inequalities and climate change. These goals are a call to action by all countries to “promote prosperity while protecting the planet”.
