The Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP) is a one-year foundation programme that offers practice-oriented curriculum for students taking at least 5 G2 subjects or a mix of at least 5 G3/G2 subjects as an alternative route to entering polytechnic.
Admissions is restructured to a cluster-based approach.
Students will enter one of the following three key broad clusters. At the end of the PFP year, students will then apply to a specific diploma course, and posting will be based on their PFP performance and course choice:
Sciences
Design, Engineering & Technology
Humanities, Art, Media and Business
Students seeking admission to Nursing, Tamil Studies in Early Education and Early Childhood Development & Education courses will continue to be admitted via the broad clusters or directly to these specific diplomas in their PFP, as these courses are more specialised.
Students offering G3 subjects, or a mix of G2 and G3 subjects will be allowed to access PFP.
Minimum Entry Requirements (MERs) will be aligned across the PFP clusters
EL requirement relaxed to Grade 3 (G2) for all clusters; no change in MA (Maths), “R” (Relevant) and “B” (Best) subject requirements;
no change in requirement of ELMAB3 raw aggregate score of ≤ 12 points (based on G2)
G3 grades will be mapped downwards (to G2 scores) for admission to PFP
Note: Placement is by order of merit, eligibility does not guarantee placement.
