On 2 July 2026 afternoon, our Primary 3 - 5 Higher Chinese Language students gathered in the PAL Room for a special lion dance showcase, led by SPH Zaobao Thumbs Up and Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre.
Students learnt about the two types of lion dance — the Southern Lion and the Northern Lion — and discovered fascinating facts, such as how lion costumes have shrunk from over a hundred kilogrammes ninety years ago to just three to six kilogrammes today. They also learnt that lion dancing blends martial arts and dance, requires strong teamwork, and is open to people of all genders and ethnicities.
The highlight was when students got to try on the lion head themselves, discovering the red ropes inside used to control its eyes and ears. The session ended with a lively performance that had everyone cheering.
It was an unforgettable afternoon that left students with a deeper appreciation for this treasured cultural heritage. 🐝

Our Mother Tongue Fortnight Programme took place from 1 to 13 March 2026, marking a vibrant conclusion to Term 1.
This year featured intentional cross-cultural programming that brought our school community together in meaningful ways. Lower primary students collaborated in multilingual stage performances, creating opportunities to experience and share their diverse cultural traditions with peers across all Mother Tongue Languages. Middle and upper primary students immersed themselves in hands-on cultural heritage activities, exploring traditional crafts and arts that connect them to their roots. Our graduating Primary 6 cohort enjoyed a special highlight—interactive sessions with radio DJs from MediaCorp's Mother Tongue Languages stations, where they recorded personalised podcast clips to commemorate our school's milestone 85th anniversary.
The programme successfully celebrated our rich linguistic diversity while fostering deeper cultural appreciation and understanding among all students. 🐝

All 11 of our participants showed remarkable dedication and passion for this beautiful traditional art form. During our school's prize presentation ceremony, each student contributed a Chinese character to create the meaningful phrase "辅华小学八十五周年校庆快乐" - celebrating our school's 85th anniversary!
This experience has deepened our students' connection to Chinese heritage and culture. We are so proud of their achievements and the way they have represented our school! 🐝
