Day 1 - 28 October 2024, Monday
Our adventure began with a visit to the UK Farm, where excitement filled the air as we explored the charming countryside and encountered a range of animals. Among the highlights were the deer and even an ostrich—a thrilling sight for everyone! The experience grew even more memorable when we got to feed some adorable baby goats, and a hands-on lesson in making passion fruit juice added a unique touch to the visit.
The farm's hospitality shone through a delicious buffet lunch, where we delighted in a spread of local flavors. Our next stop was the Nyonya Baba Peranakan Museum, where we were captivated by the elegant architecture and learned about the customs and traditions that make the Peranakan culture so unique. In the afternoon, we continued our journey with visits to Jonker Street, St Paul’s Church, and the historic A’ Famosa Fort, each location rich with history and charm that brought a sense of adventure and wonder to our day.
Day 2 - 29 October 2024, Tuesday
Day two welcomed us to SMK Padang Temu with a lively and heartwarming reception; the rhythmic sounds of the kompang—a traditional Malay hand drum—ushered us in with great excitement. The warmth of their hospitality was felt in the generous spread of local delicacies, including flavorful curries that we savored together.
Our hosts then led us through a series of traditional game stations, where we had the chance to try our hand at ‘gasing,’ a spinning top game reminiscent of Beyblade, as well as making traditional kueh (local desserts) and playing congkak and Batu Seremban, also known as ‘Five Stones.’ These activities gave us an authentic taste of the local culture and brought us closer to our hosts. Although it was hard to say goodbye, the farewell was filled with fondness, ending with an enchanting performance and thoughtful gifts that left us with wonderful memories of our time at SMK Padang Temu.
