The focus of the College's ECG Programme at JC1 is for students to discover and understand their individual talents, interests and aspirations. Key programmes offered in the calendar year include:
Clifton Strengthsfinder Profiling: All JC1 students will experience a Strengthsfinder profilling test which will enable you to better recognise and understand your talents and strenghts.
Careers Sharing and Booths: Students will be given opportunities to interact with representatives from a variety of careers and industries via panel sessions and information sharing at booths set up at CJC.
Work Attachment and Shadowing Programme (WASP): Offered as part of the College's Stretch programmes, these 2-week long attachments allow students opportunities for experiential learning in the workforce.
Workshops and Other Opportunities: JC1 students will are also offered the opportunity to join other ECG-related stretch opportunities including the Junior College Law Programme (JCLP) and Student Industry Experience Learning Journeys, where students will have the chance to learn more about careers and industries of their interest. They can also attend skills training sessions, as well as other admissions, scholarships, and career talks organised year round.
ECG Counselling: Students are encouraged to sign up for group or individual ECG counselling sessions with our ECG Counsellor, Ms. Joys Lin, to explore career and higher education pathways of interest.
In their graduating year, students are guided to deepen their understanding of their talents, interests and aspirations. To prepare students for their applications to universities and scholarship opportunities, training in ECG-skills are a cornerstone of the programme at JC2. Key programmes offered in the calendar year include:
IHL Learning Journeys and Booths: Students will be given opportunities to visit our Institutes of Higher Learning and interact with representatives from the universities at the start of the JC2 year.
ECG Skills Training: With growing competition for places at the IHLs and workforce, all JC2 students receive training in key ECG skills, where they are guided to distinguish themselves through their personal statements and interviews.
Tea Sessions, Nominations, and other Opportunities: Throughout the year, the ECG team also works with external partners, providing opportunities for students to attend tea sessions and relevant talks for exposure.
ECG Counselling: Students are encouraged to continue their group or individual ECG counselling sessions with our ECG Counsellor, Ms. Joys Lin. In JC2, you are encouraged to deepen your consideration of specific career and higher education pathways in order to better prepare for the next step of higher education.
