This is an Ask-Me-Anything session to find out more about CSIT and the opportunities offered.

CSIT is a technical agency in MINDEF that harnesses cutting-edge digital technologies to support missions such as cyber defence, counter terrorism and counter hostile information operations. It develops capabilities and conducts deep technical investigations to provide threat intelligence to meet Singapore’s security needs.

Its technical focus areas include cybersecurity, data analytics, software engineering, and cloud infrastructure and services.

[D1S1] 2. Mr Benedict Khoo
/ Association of Podiatric Medicine (Singapore)

Podiatrist, APM Honorary Treasurer

Industry: Healthcare

Mr. Benedict Khoo is a Singaporean Podiatrist who specialises in treating sports injuries as well as other types of common painful disorders arising from walking or running gait biomechanics. He graduated with honours in Podiatric Medicine from the Queensland University of Technology, Australia.

He has a special interest in biomechanics and sports podiatry, particularly in injuries sustained by servicemen during National Service. Benedict's experience as a medic in the Singapore Armed Forces, makes him keenly aware of the high incidence of lower limb injuries and numbers many National Servicemen among his patients today. He hopes to raise awareness of such injuries and the importance of preventative measures before these injuries develop.

Benedict's clinical interest lies in optimising modern therapies that aid patient recovery processes, with a particular focus on non-surgical treatment options with the use of radial and focused type extracorporeal shockwave therapy. In the operating room, Mr. Khoo is often sought after by patients for his fast and clean surgical approach

EY Auditor with close to 10 years of professional experiences, Clement specialised in servicing clients within the Resource and Transportation sector. Some of his most memorable work experiences includes overseas audits where he had to travel to US, UK, Estonia, China, Thailand and Malaysia.

Clement is a digital audit champion of his sector, leading a team of managers to provide staff training in digital audit methodology and tools and realize automation projects at EY.

Outside of work, he cites his stint as a volunteer general treasurer at a church, as one of the most meaning way to spend his free time.

[D1S1] 5. Dr Darren Yeo

Dr. Darren Yeo joined the Division of Psychology at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in July 2021. He obtained a Ph.D. in Neuroscience and an M.Ed. in Child Studies from Vanderbilt University, USA. He was trained as a primary school teacher at the National Institute of Education, Singapore, and have taught for a couple of years in an MOE school and other educational settings.

He uses behavioural and neuroimaging methods to investigate how children and adults learn and think about numerical and mathematical symbols, concepts and skills, as well as how and why individuals differ in their learning and competencies. In another line of work, he studies the relative effectiveness of various learning and instructional strategies (e.g., retrieval practice and use of worked examples) to inform how individual and classroom learning can be better structured to make knowledge stick.

[D1S1] 6. Mr Choo Ruizhi
/ S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS)

Senior Analyst

Area of Work: Research / International Studies

Ruizhi's life is full of animals. He's studied fishes, pigs, and even crocodiles in Singaporean history.

Presently a Senior Analyst in the National Security Studies Programme at the S Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), his job involves conducting research on episodes in Singapore's national security history for various government stakeholders.

Prior to joining RSIS, Ruizhi majored in History at the National University of Singapore, where he earned both his Master's and Bachelor's degrees. At NUS, he was also a Graduate Teaching Fellow, where he taught undergraduate modules on Asian and Singaporean history.

Ruizhi's explorations into different facets of Singapore's environmental history have appeared as short stories, essays, and articles in various publications.

In his free time, he likes to hang out with the community cats in his HDB estate.

[D1S1] 7. Mr Song Yu Chuan

Yu Chuan is an Architect and Lecturer in the School of Design and Environment at Ngee Ann Polytechnic since 2020. He teaches courses under the Diploma in Design, with a focus on Architecture and UX. Prior to joining academia, he worked in local award-winning firms RSP Architects Planners & Engineers, DP Architects and ONG&ONG. His portfolio includes a variety of architectural and master planning projects, such as Punggol Regional Sports Centre, One Pearl Bank Condominium, Great World City and the NUS Concept Master Plan. He graduated with a Master of Architecture from NUS as a BCA-Industry Scholar and is currently a member of BCA’s Future Leaders Network and Singapore Institute of Architects' Young Architects League. Yu Chuan is also a Saint and graduated from SAJC in 2008.

Kuo Yang has over 10 years of experience in progressive leadership roles in the semiconductor industry, covering both Global and Asia region portfolios. Having operated through local and transversal responsibilities, he has built strong knowledge of the Manufacturing environment through his roles in both HR and Engineering.

Kuo Yang started his career as a Facilities engineer in a wafer fabrication plant before progressing into a career in HR where he had the opportunity to contribute and lead in several HR roles. Kuo Yang holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the National University of Singapore.

Ching Sie is a trained in the field of Accountancy and has more than 15 years as a Chartered Public Accountant.

He started his career at PriceWaterhouseCoopers as an external auditor after graduating from Nanyang Technological University and spent the next 7 years rising from an audit associate to an audit manager. At PwC, Ching Sie led audit engagements across retail, construction, insurance, shipping, energy and the fund management industries. On audit engagements, he was privileged to work with the Senior management of his audit clients and was exposed to various business operations in detail.

Leaving the professional sector after 7 years, Ching Sie joined various companies in the commercial sector and continued his career progression from Senior Finance Manager to his most recent role as the Regional Finance Director. In the commercial sector, Ching Sie led accountants in the finance departments of companies, in book-keeping, financial reporting, budgeting, tax reporting, managing external audits and regulatory compliance. In his last role as the Regional Finance Director, Ching Sie supported the Regional Chief Financial Officer in managing and over-seeing the Group’s regional finance function across 14 countries in the Asia Pacific Region. He was involved in financial analysis and planning, business process improvement, management of Client audits, group compliance and strategic planning.

Ching Sie left the corporate world in November 2021 to join his family business in the construction industry. In his current role, he manages operations and business development and is responsible for strategic planning to expand the business and keep it going for the next generation.

He was responsible for Personal Lines - Private Client Services ( a division of Jardine Lloyd Thompson ) that provides advisory on personal risk management solutions to HNW clients that includes Global Health Risk Solutions, Valuables Risk Solutions, Danger Risk Solutions etc. He was also instrumental in establishing the business and operational framework for Personal Lines for the complete value chain, with strong relationships with underwriting partners and Private Banking channels.

Prior to JLT, he was a Senior Consultant with International Medical Insurance ( a subsidiary of the Raffles Medical Group ) with a focus on international medical insurance ( Bupa ) and employee benefits.

He was co-founder for iTransAct, a technology firm that implemented secure ( 3DES ) ePayments & Micro-Banking/Micro-Insurance solutions for financial institutions and mega merchants / e-retailers. Core competencies were in retail petroleum & retail automation.

Wee Seng counts over 20 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, across fab start up, process integration, technology development, yield improvement, manufacturing, equipment engineering, cost management and program management.

Helming the SSIA Secretariat team since 2018, Wee Seng has redefined the association’s strategic directions and operations, to better deliver its mission and vision. Embracing a holistic approach to driving business transformation in Singapore and the region, he concurrently sits on several Advisory Committees, such as in Singapore Polytechnic’s School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (SEEE), the government and industry-backed Industrial Transformation Asia-Pacific (ITAP) platform, as well as ESG’s Smart Manufacturing Technical Committee (SMTC) and Environment and Resources Standards Technical Committee for Energy.

With over 18 years of design experience across a broad range of high-profile, international projects in the hospitality, residential, cultural, commercial, education and healthcare sectors, Ai-Ling is the Founder and Principal Design of Studio MAKAL, and also registered with the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architect). After graduating from Manchester School of Architecture, Ai-Ling began her professional career as an architect in the UK. She then relocated to Singapore to assist the Broadway Malyan UK team in setting up their Singapore office in 2008. At Broadway Malyan Singapore, her flair and passion in design has put her in the position to lead design teams to notable success with several competition bids.

Prior to the founding of Studio MAKAL, Ai-Ling worked for 9 years with renowned architect Kerry Hill, where she honed her expertise in hospitality design. At Kerry Hill Architects, she led high profile hospitality and residential projects in China, India, Morocco, Vietnam and Malaysia. Her key completed project, The Lalu Qingdao won both the SIA and the Australian International Chapter awards in 2016.
