For Admission to JC/MI
From the 2028 JAE, MOE will adjust the JC admission criteria from L1R5 ≤ 20 to L1R4 ≤ 16.
Students will continue to be sufficiently prepared for the rigour of the JC curriculum, as the computation of the L1R4 aggregate continues to require three subjects from both the Mathematics/Science and Humanities subject groups. This ensures that students have an adequate foundation in the disciplines.
To be eligible for admission to a junior college (JC)/Millenia Institute (MI) course via JAE or DSA-JC, you must meet these criteria:
Your L1R4 qualifying threshold must not exceed 16 (for JC) / must not exceed 20 (for MI).
Meet the minimum grade requirements for specific subjects.
1) Qualifying threshold for JC revised to L1R4 ≤ 16 and retained at L1R4 ≤ 20 for MI
2) Minimum subject grade requirements
JC/MI aggregate score will include Language, Humanities and Mathematics/Science subjects.
This ensures that students continue to cope with the academic rigour of the A-Level pathway.
Bonus points cap will be lowered from four to three
Students who apply through the Joint Admission Exercise (JAE) and are selected for Language Elective Programme (LEP) continue to be eligible for two bonus points on top of this cap for admission to respective JCs.
