Principles of design we apply in this activity

Simplification

We simplified the content that we found from the trustworthy source which is National Geographic. We make the sentence more simple for the pupils to understand the context better. We change the bombastic words to simpler ones and make the sentences shorter.

Addition

We add on some other information for the pupils to learn more about the wild animals. This is to make sure the pupils can understand the context clearer and attract their attention to learn more about the wild animals.

Rearrangement

Students can benefit from rearranging material to better understand complicated subjects. When information is given in a different style or order, it can bring new views and insights, allowing students to better understand the material.

HOW?

Pupils will raise their hands up to volunteer themselves reading the materials.

Pupils will take turns reading the materials for each page loudly in the class.

After a page is done, pupils have to point out which part shows the unique characteristics of the animals in the pictures.

In pairs, pupils will discuss with each other and answer the quiz and play interactive games.

JUSTIFICATION

Real-life pictures of animals

Real photos pique pupils' interest and attention more than drawings or cartoon versions as they are curious of how animals would look like in real life (Ismail, 2019). They build a direct link to the actual world, making learning more engaging and relatable.

Game and quiz in learning

Active participation is essential for games and quizzes, which encourage students to think, analyze, and solve problems. When in contrast to passive learning approaches, active learning improves understanding and helps pupils store knowledge more efficiently (Krenare Pireva Nuci et al., 2021).

Highlighting key point in the materials

Students' attention is drawn to the most significant material when important elements are highlighted. It assists individuals in staying focused on the necessary concepts, facts, or ideas that are critical for grasping the topic in the midst of a sea of information (Winchell et al., 2020).
